A lot has happened since our last update. The girls are completely feeding themselves and are eating all table food. Stan is loving this since he can cook one meal for the entire family. No more chopping and pureeing food for us! Taylor and Madeline are very good eaters and eat anything we give them. They really do eat everything that we eat, just is much smaller bites of course. We haven't ventured to the spoon/fork yet, but they are really good at feeding themselves with their fingers. They are also really good at drinking from their water bottles. We originally tried the standard sippy cup and they weren't very good at tipping the cup to get water so we moved on to the little bottles with the straws and they have mastered those. So when we switch over to cow's milk at one year old, we will use those. For now they just get water.
They are not crawling yet but they do like to pull up on stuff. Taylor will get on her stomach, crawl backwards and go in circles but can't seem to figure out the forward motion yet. Madeline will get on her stomach, play, and then realize she is stuck. They are however very content to sit up and play all the time. As far as we are concerned the full on crawling and moving can wait. Our lives will get much more hectic then!
The girls are still great sleepers too! They go to bed very easily around 7pm and sleep all the way to 6am. We can't ask for much more. Although I am not a morning person and I would love to sleep in on the weekend, but I guess that isn't happening until the teenage years.
Aunt Me, Uncle Rick, (Kristen's aunt and uncle from California) Wolfie and Courtney came for a visit to meet the girls on their cross country journey home. It was great to see them, catch up and carry on... We had a wonderful visit and we can't wait for their return or for us the venture west.
I think I forgot to mention prior to xmas the girls did see their first snow fall, albeit it was only about 30 minutes of flakes but it was snow! I held them up to the window to see it and it appears as though they acknowledged it (that is what I am telling myself).
Both girls have had recurring ear infections so this past week we went to see the ENT for a consultation. After the visit and hearing test we determined that the girls both need to have tubes put in their ears. They have an appointment to get the tubes put in on Feb 1st. It is a little scary to have both of our girls having surgery, but it is the best thing for them as they haven't been able to clear the fluid from their ears and it continually gets infected. It is also affecting their hearing (nothing permanent) but it is kind of like having ear muffs on. The girls are constantly giggling and babbling, so it will be interesting to see if any real words start once the tubes go in and they can really hear. The doctors say it is only a 5 minute procedure, but since they are squirmy kids they will need to be put under anesthesia. There are no IVs and no breathing assistance so that is good. They said they breath through the mask, go into a twilight sleep and then are woken up immediately afterward. They said they should be groggy for about 1/2 a day and then back to normal. The best part is there is NO special care for the tubes. They can swim, shower and do everything totally normal, like nothing is there and we shouldn't have any further problems. So everyone say a few extra prayers for our girls on Feb. 1st!
Overall, we still have very happy babies!
Stan built the girls a box castle out of one the Christmas package boxes and they love it, they sit in it and look out the "windows" and laugh at each other. It is really cute! Here are a couple pics of them playing outside of it.

At Christmas time we were on the hunt for hats to fit the girls big heads and we were successful! Luckily it doesn't get too cold here in Raleigh but cold enough to need a hat. The girls actually don't mind their hats which is good. Here Taylor and Madeline were playing in the exersaucers next to each other, staring at each other and laughing. I don't know what they were laughing about but it was VERY funny to them!

Stan and I were lucky enough to sneek off to see the Nutcracker while my parents were here visiting over Christmas (The ballet was wonderful by the way). Here are a couple of pics my mom caught of the girls. Taylor scooted herself behind Madeline and then proceeded to reach for her ears.
