OBX 2010

We took a much needed vacation to Nags Head in the Outer Banks of NC with two other families the Sennets and the Styons. It was 6 adults and 6 kids and we had a blast! It was nice to get away from Raleigh, spend time with some great friends and we had wonderful weather!! We went to the beach, hung out in the hot tub and pool, and enjoyed some GREAT food.

Here is Stan and the girls the first day we got there. We got them some baby sun glasses which they really didn't mind too much. Here is the daily eating ritual. This meal there were people down at the pool so they ate while watching people play and looking out at the ocean. So much easier to clean up on the porch then in the house :)

Sunday we headed to the beach and the girls actually loved the beach which was very fortunate for us. We had a beach umbrella (thanks Erin!) which kept them out of the sun but could still play in the sand. We thought they would want to be on the blanket, but 2 minutes after getting there Madeline crawled right off the blanket into the sand and was happy as could be. Taylor, seeing the fun her sister was having, joined right in. WE are also very lucky that our girls keep they hats on. In fact they don't even touch them. As long as there is something going on I don't even think they notice they are there. Thanks grandmom for the great swim suits, hats and cover-ups. We have to wait until our feet grow for the flip-flops.

Madeline giving the sand a little taste. She didn't seem to mind the gritty sand and each day had a good bit on her face, but she was happy so we let her play. Luckily neither one really ate too much, maybe a lick or two...

Jay and Stan being the big kids they are decided they were going to build themselves a sand castle. It was actually still there on day 2 so they made it bigger and better.

Here we are enjoying the beach down by the water. The water was a little chilly, not cold enough that we didn't get in with it being hot on the beach, but the girls didn't really like the cold water so we just sat at the edge and got a little feel of the water. They were very content to sit with us, but Madeline didn't want the cold water to touch her.

Taylor and Mommy enjoyed the rushing of the water over our feet. Taylor actually didn't mind sitting while the water came up after she realized it wasn't going to hurt her and wasn't that cold.

The Styons had some great beach chairs that were close the the ground and our girls LOVED to climb in them and sit for awhile. I think Madeline spent the better part of a day in the blue chair with her toys and all. Taylor is in the green chair.

We had some veggie chips on the beach and Taylor thought it was a great idea to get the bag and help herself. Good thing it was the end of the bag since I bet her hands were a little sandy.

One last shot of us enjoying the sun and the water. Well, I guess Stan and I enjoyed the water the girls were really like PLEASE don't put me in the cold stuff.

Since we often have our hands full we didn't really have our camera out too much so I will have to snag some of the other pictures of everyone from Angela and Virginia so we can get more of the whole group for a future post, but that gives you a sneak peak into Taylor and Madeline's first trip to the beach!!!
