For Thanksgiving this year we traveled to Aunt Becky's (more fondly known as Aunt Gee Gee) house in Murfreesboro, TN. Grandmom and Granddad Fischer also made the trip up from Texas so the 7 of us (4 Wallace's, Gee Gee, 2 Fischers) all enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday together. It was wonderful to spend some quality time with them and the girls had a BLAST!! They ask to go back to Aunt Gee Gee's house.
We left on Tuesday and came back on Monday so we missed all the traffic, but we did get caught in 9 hours of rain coming home. Fortunately for Stan's expert packing none of our stuff got wet in the back of the truck and the girls were fabulous the whole way. This was our first big road trip with the girls as we have always flown everywhere with them and it was also a test for our Christmas drive to CT. I have to admit I was quite nervous, but they did wonderfully, we are so fortunate to have great travelers.
It was non-stop fun in Murfreesboro for the girls. Taylor and Madeline hit the jackpot in Aunt Gee Gee's walk-in closet FULL of toys and games from when she did therapy. Needless to say we didn't have to bring anything with us as the girls had their pick of toys, puzzles and games.
The highlight of the trip was definitely the Nutcracker Party, which was so great it will get it's own post. We also had a visit to the Children's Museum which has a 2 story, covered slide. Taylor and Madeline must have road this slide about 20 times, up the stairs and down the slide, giggling all the way.
It was a very mild Thanksgiving so we were able to visit the Nashville Zoo. The animals were all out sunning themselves so we got a great view. Since Taylor and Madeline love animals it was perfect. They would excitedly spot each animal and then proceed to tell us the noise the animal makes. It was such a beautiful day and nice to get outside a walk off a few turkey pounds.
In between all that fun we also visited multiple parks, playgrounds, and the girls helped Aunt Gee Gee recycle! They especially loved climbing the stairs to throw the tin cans in the bin. They liked recycling so much we had to make two trips.
Among all that we did manage to have a wonderful turkey dinner with all the fixing and were extremely Thankful to spend the holiday with family.
