The girls were VERY excited since they had just been to two birthday parties and quickly asked if they could sing Happy Birthday and have cake. Since I didn't want to dampen their excitement we said sure.
Little did we know Aunt Gee Gee has a collection of Nutcrackers. Each day leading up to the party two nutcrackers would magically appear after naptime. The girls would wake up and exclaim "look Mommy, look who came for the party!". Since the girls had never really seen Nutcrackers before, I showed them how to use the handle to make the mouth open. I showed them how the Nutcrackers say "I like nuts, yum, yum, yum". This quickly became the Nutcracker motto and we had many rousing choruses of "I like nuts, yum, yum, yum!".
On Saturday after naptime Taylor and Madeline unwrapped all the remaining Nutcrackers and put them anywhere around the house they wanted. They ended up lining the stairs with them which was very cute and left lots of room to play. Aunt Gee Gee also happily obliged and she and the girls made mini cupcakes, because it was a party, and we all sang Happy Birthday to the Nutcrackers :)
Ironically, once they were all lined up on the stairs someone had to escort Taylor and Madeline past them since they were now "scary", quite humorous to all of us.
