Taylor Found Her Hands

Taylor now keeps herself amused by staring at her hands. This week, around Monday or Tuesday, she realized she has hands and now spends a lot of time staring at them and then sticking them in her mouth. I don't know if she really comprehends that these magical things are actually attached to her and she can manipulate them, but none the less she seems fascinated by them.

I go back to work on Monday so today we went to "school", aka daycare, for a trial run and to bring supplies before the first real drop off. We were fortunate to find a small day care with one room per age group so the teachers really know the kids at all ages. Everyone was VERY excited to meet the twins today and all the teachers couldn't wait to get a chance to hold them. Right now they are the youngest ones at the center and are with mostly boys in the infant room, I think there is one other girl who is older and about to move up to the next room.

The teachers were amazed at what a great schedule they are on and how fast they drink their bottles. The girls usually take no longer than 10 min, maybe 15 is Taylor is being pokey at night, to finish their bottles. This is totally normal to us and we don't know any different but I guess there are some kids in their room who will take 45 min to an hour to eat a bottle. I think I would go crazy if they ate for that long a period of time on one bottle. They also breastfeed in about 5 to 10 minutes, speedy eaters.

It seems as though the girls will settle in nicely to their new school and won't have any problems. As my mom said, it is good that we are taking them now before they are old enough to have separation anxiety. Now by the time they are old enough to understand Mom and Dad dropping them off they will already know their teachers and school will just be another part of their routine.

We have started to put them in the exersaucer. They are still a little too small yet, Madeline's feet just barely touch the bottom and she actually pulls them up so it is like she is flying. Taylor's feet don't touch at all still :) The other day Madeline just started to show some actual interest in the items on the exersaucer. She actually grabbed on to the little apple thing to her left in the picture. They don't last long in it and we have to watch them closely to make sure they stay upright but it is a start! (side note... this pic makes Madeline seem so much more stable than she really is...but it is still cute) Here is Taylor playing on the Boppy 5 in 1. She likes to talk to the toys.
