NC State Fair

Stan and I took the day off work today to take the girls to the NC State Fair. The weather was fantastic, 75 degrees, sunny and a great breeze. We couldn't have asked for a better day! It was hunger relief day at the fair so we brought 4 items of can food each and got free tickets into the fair. The girls really enjoyed being outside, having the wind in their hair, and seeing all the sites.

We enjoyed the quieter side of the fair this year spending time in the gardens at the flower show, looking at all the old farm equipment, seeing all the prize winning vegetables and of course the animals. We saw cows of all varieties, horses, pigs, sheep, donkeys, baby chicks, goats and probably others I can't remember. Stan and I also indulged in the food at the fair, which is our favorite part! We have our regulars... grilled corn on the cob, corn dogs, lemonade and this year we also had gyros, falaffel, and to top it all off a fried snickers and homemade ice cream!

We grabbed a spot under a tree to give the girls lunch and change some diapers which turned out to be a nice rest time for everyone. We laid out the blankets, had some milk, got fresh diapers and giggled a little bit. After their lunch they both nicely took a snooze while we strolled around.

The girls were wonderful, as usual, and with everything going on around them all we had was lots of talking and smiles and not a single tear the whole time we were there. All in all our family trip to the fair was wonderful!!

This is the biggest Adirondack chair I had ever seen so I climbed in for a pic...Here we are in the agricultural building, see me finishing my corn on the cob (my personal favorite of the fair). Those pumpkins behind me were over 300 lbs!Stan enjoying his yearly corn dog, a must have!The girls enjoying the animals...Madeline checking out the moo cows...This little stand sold gizzards and livers, as you can see by the sign, we thought it was very funny and the lady offered to let me try a fried gizzard which was kind of like chewy chicken. I didn't want any more after the taste but it was fun to try. Maybe next year I will take a stab at the livers... This picture makes me laugh since it kind of shows you how hard it is to get a picture of 7 month old twins. It was this great photo op place with pumpkins and hay and a barn scene, well as you can see it didn't really work out for us, but fun to try...

The girls both had a good time but Madeline seemed to have a GREAT time. She was constantly smiling and talking all day. This picture below really sums up the joy she had on her face all day!
