Doctors Visit - 30 weeks

It is March 2 and you would think spring would have started by now, but this morning we had 3 inches of snow in Raleigh. For any northern climate that would be no big deal, but here that closes all schools and pretty much everything else. The ironic thing is by this weekend it will be 75 degrees and sunny. Snow doesn't last very long here... Luckily the doctors office was open at 10am this morning and our appointment was 10:20am so we were able to keep on track, although with the snow the doctors office was running very behind trying to squeeze the morning people in too.

We had an ultrasound with Judy and then a doctors visit with Dr. Groff. This week my cervix has shortened a little more to 1.9cm, which made me nervous, but Dr. Groff was very upbeat and positive so that made us more comfortable. She said, yes, it has shortened but the cervix is still fully closed at this point. She indicated we needed to be diligent about the bed rest through 32 weeks, which would be March 13th. Then we will still need to be on bed rest through 34 weeks but if all stays the same we can ease up a little bit. She said most twins like to come at 34 to 36 weeks and babies development is pretty much complete by 34 weeks. She indicated they will not go in and get the babies until 38 weeks unless they see something else wrong, but even if they came today they would stay in the hospital until they were 34 weeks, but would not have any long term effects. This definitely eased the nerves.

All that being said the babies are doing GREAT!! Baby A's heartbeat is 149, weight is 3.8 lbs. and is sitting low in the breach position. Baby B's heartbeat is 146, weight is 4.4 lbs. and is sitting in a transverse position. Their fluids both look great and the doctors are VERY happy with their progress.

Although we have had ultrasounds and got to see them, the unfortunate thing about their positioning is we haven't been able to get any face shots at all which is why we haven't posted any more pictures. Maybe we will just have to wait to see them in person :)

Next week we will go on Tuesday and will have another ultrasound, doctors visit and cervix swab. We couldn't get all the appointments lined up on Monday so y'all will have to wait an extra day for the update.
