We "roomed in" at the hospital last night with the girls to get a test drive on taking care of them by ourselves. The Special Care Nursery has a program where the parents can come to the hospital the night before the babies go home to spend the night and take care of them, but still have access to the nurses to ask questions or if there are any problems. We had an uneventful night, just diaper changes, feeding, sleeping and of course pumping for Kristen. All in all it was a success and at 2pm the girls were discharged and we all got to go home together!!! It was very exciting and everyone we passed in the halls made a fuss over our adorable little twins!
Since being in the Special Care Nursery the girls are on a great schedule. They eat every 4 hours and they wake up, eat and go back to sleep so nicely!!! Thank you to the Rex Special Care nurses for that!!! They are also good eaters and both Taylor and Madeline are above their birth weights.
Although the girls are doing great the doctors did say they still are preemies which means they are more susceptible to germs and we need to limit the number of visitors they have in the first 6 weeks and no kids at all in the first 6 weeks. So...as much as we want to show off our little angels we do want to keep them as healthy as possible. Please bear with us on this one, we love you all but need to keep our girls best interest in mind. My 6 week check-up is April 28th so after that we should be in good shape.
Here is Madeline (behind the driver) and Taylor on their way home. They nicely slept the whole way!! Not a peep from the back seat.

Miss Madeline in her car seat.
Miss Taylor in her car seat.
We arrived home and Daisy greeted the girls. It was a huge success! We put them down she sniffed all around them and on them while they slept and then came to say Hi to mom. She was really more interested in me petting her belly than anything. She was great with them, interested but not overbearing. We gave Daisy lots of praise and treats! She also came and laid next to me while I fed the girls.
Here they are relaxing on the couch, they were so content and quiet we let them stay in their seats for a little while.
